Bitcoin's price history is one of the most dramatic charts in finance: from fractions of a cent in 2010, past $1,000 in 2013, $20,000 in 2017, $69,000 in 2021, and into six figures in the current cycle. Zoom the chart above out to the all-time view to see the full journey.
That history is punctuated by four-year halving cycles — roughly every 210,000 blocks, the new BTC supply is cut in half. Each halving (2012, 2016, 2020, 2024) was followed by a major bull run 12–18 months later, though past cycles don't guarantee future ones.
History also teaches humility: bitcoin has crashed more than 80% four separate times. Every new high has eventually been followed by a brutal drawdown — the chart's long-term view makes both the gains and the pain visible.
